Easy Halloween Makeup for Kids
Easy Halloween Makeup for Kids
Children find the thought of wearing a Halloween costume exciting, but as the holiday grows nearer, this anticipation often turns to apprehension at the thought of wearing a mask over their faces. This can leave parents with an expensive costume that causes more tears than giggles. Using makeup to create the character face might be the best plan for younger children to enjoy the annual Trick or Treat or Halloween events. Because Halloween makeup does not block the vision, it is also considered safer than a mask.
Halloween makeup can be simple or complicated, depending on how much time is available, the skill of the artist, and the patience of the child. However, if you’re a parent looking for easy Halloween makeup ideas, then turning a child into some kind of animal can be done in just a few minutes, and won’t cost much, as most animals require only a few colors. Here are some simple ideas for adding the finishing touches to kids Halloween costumes using face paints.
Cat
Cat makeup is perhaps the easiest and quickest to do. With a circle of black makeup on the tip of the nose, three stripes on each cheek, and a black line between the bottom of the nose and the center of the bow of the lips, a child becomes a cat almost instantly. Add a headband with ears and a tail, and this delightful creature is ready to go.
Zebra
Black paint can also turn a child into the perfect zebra. The following steps will make this realistic looking animal come to life in no time:
· Paint a solid, square black box around the mouth from the nose to the chin.
· Draw black lines running horizontally from this box to the side of the face.
· Draw a black line from the hairline at the center of the forehead to the tip of the nose.
· Beginning at the center of the forehead, draw a large black diamond with the lower point ending at the bottom of each nostril.
· Finish by drawing increasingly smaller diamonds inside this larger diamond in about one-fourth inch increments.
With a black and white striped shirt and pants, as well as a wispy tail, this child will look as if he arrived straight from the local zoo.
Tiger
Making a tiger requires more time and patience and a few more colors of face paint. Here’s how:
· First, draw a black circle around the mouth, but leave the jut of the chin uncovered. Fill the inside of this circle with white makeup.
· Next, cover the tip of the nose with a large black circle.
· Draw lines from this smudge up the side of each nostril to each side of the forehead, ending each line in a solid black triangle.
· Fill in the space from this point, circling around each eye completely in orange makeup.
· Cover the rest of the face that is unpainted with yellow makeup, including the point of the chin.
· Using black paint, make four whiskers on the cheeks, beginning near the underside of the nose and moving diagonally upward.
With orange striped pyjamas, the little tiger should now be ready to pounce safely off into the night.
At first the thought of doing your child’s Halloween makeup may be intimidating, but with just a little practice, it can be mastered within no time. Using just a bit of imagination, it is simple to create all sorts of animals and other characters within minutes, and everyone will love the results.
